On Sunday, unbeaten Kenya Prisons and KCB women's teams will face off in the Kenya Volleyball Federation national League play-offs final match, with both teams seeking to emerge champions.
Prisons, under the stewardship of coach Josp Barasa, had earlier won against perennial rivals Kenya Pipeline 3-0 on Friday, while KCB saw off Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in the identical set score.
However, KCB's coach Japheth Munala and players Noel Murambi, Leonida Kasaya, Violet Makuto, and Jemimah Siangu, who decamped to KCB from Pipeline this season, returned to haunt their former employer, winning all sets against Pipeline on Saturday.
According to Munala, despite the tough match ahead against Prisons, he remained optimistic of bagging the title, which he last won with Pipeline in 2017.
”At least we have already qualified for the club championship set for next year. We expect a tough match against Prisons but we have prepared well and we hope the results will go in our favour,” Munala said.
Barasa, on the other hand, stated that Prisons will be out to retain the title, noting that both teams remain unbeaten and therefore there is a lot to play for.
“Both teams remain unbeaten and therefore there is a lot to play for. While we will be seeking to retain the title, KCB will be keen to bag the title they last won in 2008 and therefore we just have to wait and see what happens but our eyes are on the trophy,” Barasa noted.
