South Africa's Department of Home Affairs has announced plans to introduce electronic visa (e-Visa) access for Kenyans, starting this month. The pilot project aims to simplify the visa application process and reduce the need for physical visits to South African embassies.

According to Siya Qoza, spokesperson for the Department of Home Affairs, the pilot will be conducted at the OR Tambo and Lanseria airports in Kenya. The project's success will be evaluated at the end of the month, and the e-Visa system may be expanded to other countries.

The e-Visa application process is straightforward: applicants must fill out an online form, pay the required fee, and receive the e-Visa via email. Additional requirements include providing necessary documentation and ensuring the application is complete.

While the e-Visa system is not yet live, it is expected to take approximately twenty minutes to complete the application process. However, it's essential to note that the e-Visa will only grant short-term visas, limiting the duration of stay in South Africa.
