On November 23, 2019, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered the immediate arrest of Ibrahim Taraiya, a supervisor at Eastmatt Supermarket in Kajiado County, for brutally assaulting a female cashier.
A CCTV footage captured the incident, showing Mr. Taraiya raining heavy blows on the female cashier. The DPP has directed that Mr. Taraiya be arraigned in Kajiado Court on Monday for plea taking on assault charges.
Eastmatt Supermarket has condemned the incident, stating that they do not condone such heinous acts of disrespect against any staff member, especially women. The supermarket has suspended Mr. Taraiya and filed a report with the Kajiado County Police, who are handling the matter.
The cashier has been receiving medical attention and the supermarket has assured the public of its commitment to creating a safe and conducive environment for all staff members.
