On November 22, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) engaged in a fierce shootout with two gangsters in Nairobi, leaving the suspects injured.
The incident occurred along Ukwala Road, where the detectives recovered a Ceska pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition and masks.
According to the DCI, the gangsters defied a lawful order to surrender, prompting the detectives to take action.
Separately, detectives recovered over KES 18 million worth of counterfeit cigarettes in Kenyatta market, Kilimani estate.
Four suspects, including Kefa Onyino, Joseph Kariuki, Paul Njoroge, and John Wainaina, were arrested for supplying the counterfeit cigarettes.
The DCI received a tip from the public about a canter carrying the counterfeit cigarettes, leading to the successful interception and search of the vehicle.
182 cartons of Golden Deer King size cigarettes were found, each containing 50 packets.
