Published on November 23, 2019, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has issued a warning to midfielder Lucas Torreira, urging him to improve his consistency and take on more responsibility in the team.
Torreira, 23, has been in and out of the Gunners' line-up this season, sparking speculation that he may leave the club in the near future.
Emery has challenged Torreira to improve his game, citing the need for him to be more consistent and take on more responsibility in the team.
“Lucas played well last year. This year he’s not been consistent,” Emery said. “My challenge to him is to improve, do better with tactical issues, but above all be consistent.
Emery also acknowledged that Torreira is still learning and developing as a player, having only started playing in the Premier League last year.
“He is young. His process here is starting. He only started playing in the Premier League last year,” Emery said.
Emery believes that Torreira has the potential to be a top player for Arsenal, but needs to work on his consistency and take on more responsibility in the team.
“He can play that role - but we need a defensive midfielder to be offensive,” Emery said.
