On November 22, 2019, detectives made a significant breakthrough in the case of a 3rd year Kibabii University student who was brutally assaulted, raped, and had her hand chopped off.
Administration Police Constable Eric Mutuma, based at Tuuti police camp, was arrested on Friday and will remain in custody as he awaits trial on Monday, November 25th.
The horrific incident occurred on Thursday when the student was attacked as she was walking home with her friends. Unfortunately, her friends managed to escape, leaving her in the merciless hands of the attacker.
The attacker then committed a heinous act, raping the student and chopping off her arm. The victim's arm was later found wrapped in her bra on the roof of a nearby house, where it had been tied with barbed wire.
The student is still receiving treatment at Bungoma West Hospital.
