This archive report was first published on 23 November 2019.

On November 18, 2019, blogger Cyprian Nyakundi published a story accusing Jacaranda Hotels' IT Manager Gregory Odhiambo of hacking bank accounts of the late former cabinet minister Njenga Karume to share the loot with corrupt trustees.

The allegations were made in a blog post that described Odhiambo as a man who drinks tens of thousands of shillings with friends at The Node Restaurant in Westlands, despite being a married man with kids.

Now, Odhiambo is planning to sue Nyakundi for defamation over the allegations, which he claims are injurious to his reputation.

In a letter dated November 21, 2019, Odhiambo's lawyer, Olando, Okello and Lusenaka Advocates, gave Nyakundi a chance to apologize and retract the allegations or face legal proceedings.

The letter, however, did not specify the grace period given to Nyakundi to retract and apologize.
