Heavy rain in West Pokot has triggered devastating landslides, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life.

According to local administrator Joel Bulal, at least 12 people were buried alive in Nyarkulian village and four others in Parua village on Saturday.

Rescue efforts were underway on Saturday morning to find missing people, with the Red Cross responding to the emergency.
