On November 22, 2019, police in Siaya County arrested a fifth suspect in the death of journalist Eric Oloo. Franklin Lutta, 27, was apprehended in Mutumbu, Gem, around 6pm.
According to Francis Kooli, the police county commander, Lutta is being interrogated at Ugunja police station. Kooli stated, "I cannot give much details right now. However, I confirm that we arrested the fifth suspect around 6pm. I will give more information as the investigations over the case continue,"
Four other suspects, including a chief inspector of police, Sabina Kerubo, were arrested on Thursday. They are Victor Luta, a house help Joyce Awuor, and her daughter. The police learned about Oloo's death from their landlord, who reported the incident at the station on Thursday morning.
Eric Oloo had been living with Sabina Kerubo for 14 months, according to their neighbors. The body was transferred to a morgue in Sega, Ugenya sub county, from Ambira sub county hospital in Ugunja. The family is working on scheduling a postmortem for Monday next week.
