On November 7, 2019, Kibra residents elected McDonald Mariga as their new Member of Parliament in a closely contested by-election.
However, Mariga lost the seat to Imran Okoth of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), who garnered 24,636 votes.
Despite the loss, Deputy President William Ruto and Mariga's supporters decided to celebrate the occasion with a victory party at the Bomas of Kenya.
At the event, hundreds of Mariga's supporters gathered to celebrate his victory, enjoying a variety of dishes.
Mariga took to Twitter to express his gratitude to his supporters, saying, 'Shukrani kwa kura walizompa Mariga, kwenye uchaguzi uliofanyika Novemba, 7.'
