On November 22, 2019, reality TV star Bridget Achieng sat down with Mpasho.co.ke for an exclusive interview at her home in Nairobi.
During the candid conversation, Bridget spoke fondly of her late mother, describing her as a kind and patient person.
"My mum had a good heart and was very patient with people," Bridget said.
Tragically, Bridget's mother passed away in March 2019, leaving her heartbroken. She recalled the last message her mother sent her the morning she died, saying, "The morning before she died I sent her photos of my son Sekani because she had insisted I send her. That was the last message and I’ve never deleted it."
Bridget's mother had also offered her some words of wisdom, telling her to be patient with people and not to expect too much from them. Bridget shared that her mother's passing was particularly painful as it coincided with the beginning of her career.
Looking back, Bridget revealed that she had struggled to conceive a child for five years, trying with three different partners before finally getting pregnant with her son Sekani.
She also shared the story of how she met Sekani's father, a Nigerian man she was introduced to by a friend just a week after breaking up with her Ghanian boyfriend.
Despite facing challenges, including a request from Sekani's father to abort the pregnancy, Bridget chose to keep the baby and has since described her journey as a mother as a great one.
