On Thursday, November 21, 2019, the National Assembly witnessed a chaotic scene as a debate over a leaked sex tape turned ugly.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa sparked the chaos when he accused Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi of leaking a sex tape, prompting a shouting match among legislators.
Barasa's statement, which included allegations that Gedi had leaked a letter to the DCI, was met with anger from other MPs, including Homabay's Gladys Wanga.
Wanga's shouting seemed to infuriate Barasa, who threatened to punch her, saying, 'Honourable Speaker protect me, you should protect me from this Gladys Wanga why are you making noise. This is parliament not your house, honourable speaker you should protect me. Honourable Speaker I will punch this lady who is making noise to me.'
Other female legislators, including Nairobi's Esther Passaris, became emotionally uncontrollable, while National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi struggled to calm the house.
