Senator Cleophas Malala's decision to leave the Amani National Congress (ANC) has sparked a heated debate, with some party officials questioning his commitment to the party.

ANC official Basil Mwakiringo has come out swinging, calling Malala's decision to leave the party a sign of weakness and a lack of commitment to the party's values.

Speaking on Citizen Radio on November 21, 2019, Mwakiringo said, "As a man, if you are built a house by the Deputy President, you should not go public with it. It's embarrassing for a man to be built a house by the Deputy President and then publicly admit to it."

Malala has been at the center of controversy after he was accused of having an affair with Deputy President William Ruto, who allegedly built him a house.

ANC officials have been quick to distance themselves from Malala, with some calling for him to be expelled from the party.

However, ODM has shown interest in welcoming Malala into their fold if he is expelled from ANC.

Malala has been defiant, saying he is ready to leave ANC and find new friends.

"As a man, if you are built a house by the Deputy President, you should not go public with it. It's embarrassing for a man to be built a house by the Deputy President and then publicly admit to it," Mwakiringo said.
