On November 22, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a significant donation to the Eliud Kipchoge library project, contributing Sh. 100 million to the initiative.

The funds were delivered by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha at Kipchoge's home village in Kapsisiywa, Nandi County.

According to a report in the Daily Nation, Magoha stated that President Kenyatta would personally visit the school and commission it within the next six months.

“President Kenyatta has today given out Sh100 million to build a new library in honour of what Kipchoge did for Kenya,” the CS said.

The donation comes amidst controversy surrounding the president's recent comments on the country's economic situation, as well as allegations that donations are being made from the taxpayers' coffers.

Kipchoge made history by becoming the first man to run a marathon in under two hours, clocking 1:59:40 at the “Ineos 1:59 Challenge” on October 12 in Vienna, Austria.
