On November 22, 2019, the Kenya Scouts Association (KSA) took issue with comedian Eric Omondi and his colleague Mammito for misusing its uniform in a photo and video shared on their social media handles.
According to KSA chief commissioner Victor Radido, the duo's actions did not only taint the association's image but also portrayed the movement as an organised militia.
Radido regretted the action could potentially taint the association's good image as Kenya's leading disciplined youth movement.
He clarified that the youth movement appreciates and encourages creativity, but pointed out that the scout regalia is protected by law.
The Kenya Scouts Act states any person who is found guilty of the offence shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding KSh 100,000 or imprisonment.
Radido called upon Eric Omondi, Mammito, and another unidentified man to apologise online and pull down the images and related footage, effective November 22, 2019.
