On November 22, 2019, the Kenya Scouts Association issued a statement condemning the misuse of their uniform by renowned comedian Eric Omondi.
According to the Association, Omondi and other comedians were seen wearing the Scout uniform in a photo shoot, which they deemed to be a high misuse of the uniform.
The Association cited several reasons for their condemnation, including the fact that the comedians were not registered members of the Association and were not authorized to wear the uniform.
They also pointed out that the uniform was being used in a way that was contrary to the values of the Scout movement, which emphasizes discipline, smartness, and good order.
The Association called on Omondi and the other comedians to apologize and remove the photos from social media, and to refrain from reusing the uniform in the future.
They also expressed their willingness to collaborate with the comedians to promote Scouting and good values in their communities.
The Kenya Scouts Association emphasized that the uniform is highly protected by the laws of Kenya and its misuse may attract high and heavy punitive measures.
