On November 22, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the construction of a library in honour of Eliud Kipchoge, the world marathon record holder.
The library will be built at Kipchoge's alma mater, Kapsisiywa Secondary School, in his home village of Kapsisiywa, Nandi county.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, accompanied by Ministry officials from the county, delivered the President's letter to Kipchoge and the school principal.
The library is a commemoration of Kipchoge's historic achievement of running 42km in under two hours during the INEOS 1:59 Challenge on October 12.
Recently, Kipchoge was conferred the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH) award, the highest civilian honour a Kenyan can receive, for his outstanding performance in the field of athletics.
