On November 22, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in Laikipia County, Kenya, where the bodies of Joyce Syombua, her children Shanice Maua, and Prince Micahael were exhumed from a public cemetery.
According to a source within the Laikipia County government, 19 unclaimed bodies were buried at the same cemetery just days before the exhumation of Syombua's family members.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "It is a miracle or a magic that those who killed the family members did not mix the bodies with the rest."
The unclaimed bodies were typically buried in a mass grave with tags on their foreheads, usually in a public hospital mortuary for more than three months.
However, the source did not disclose the exact date of the burial, but revealed that the unclaimed bodies were buried at the Makaburini graves in Thingithu estate at the outskirts of Nanyuki town.
The Laikipia County government has allocated a budget to survey and fence the area this financial year, as stated by the source, "The County government of Laikipia has some budget to survey and fence the area this financial year."
