On November 21, 2019, former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren faced intense protests at separate events in South Carolina and Atlanta.
At Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina, Biden engaged in a tense exchange with Carlos Rojas, an organizer with the immigrants' rights group Movimiento Cosecha, over Obama-era deportation policies.
Biden repeatedly stated that he would not stop all deportations, prioritizing those who have committed a felony or serious crime, and defended the Obama administration's record on immigration.
Protesters shouted 'Not one more deportation' and 'That's a lie!' as Biden promised that there would not be family separations under his administration.
Minutes after the immigrants' rights protesters left, Biden faced another interruption, with a supporter accusing him of taking money from corporations.
Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Senator Elizabeth Warren was interrupted during a speech at Clark Atlanta University by a group of charter school activists, who criticized her education plan for cutting funding for charter schools.
Warren eventually received assistance from Representative Ayanna S. Pressley of Massachusetts, who urged the protesters to let Warren proceed with her speech.
