November 22, 2019, marked a significant milestone for Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, who has spent 431 days in remand at Kamiti Maximum Prison.

As the main suspect in Monica Kimani's murder, Jowie appeared at Milimani law courts, where he pleaded with the court to review his bail application, citing the difficulties he has faced in prison.

"You honor, it has been 431 days. It's not easy and I'm yet to be proven guilty. So I was asking for that opportunity," Jowie said during the hearing.

Jowie also pointed out that his co-accused, Jacque Maribe, was granted bail and did not abscond court, arguing that he deserves the same treatment.

The bail application hearing will be next heard on Thursday.
