Wahu Kagwi Refuses to Bribes Traffic Cop

On November 21, 2019, gospel singer Wahu Kagwi was arrested for dangerous overtaking, driving without a valid license, and causing obstruction on Ring Road in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

Wahu appeared before Milimani Magistrate Elector Riani on November 21, 2019, and pleaded not guilty to all the charges. She was released on a cash bail of Sh15, 000 with the hearing set for December 9, 2019.

Speaking to Mpasho, Wahu claimed that she refused to bribe the traffic cop who arrested her. She said the cop insisted that she had overlapped but when she tried to explain to him that there was a car in front which had stopped, he refused to listen.

Wahu also recalled her day in court, saying fellow Kenyans advised her to pay a bribe instead of going to court. She declared, 'I have to stand for what is right. If everyone including you, the police and me do the right thing we are going to make this country better.'
