November 21, 2019, marked a significant day in Bolivia's tumultuous election saga, with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo extending support to the transitional government.

Following the resignation of President Evo Morales, who had been accused of vote-rigging, Pompeo praised the Bolivian people for standing up for their constitution, democracy, and free, fair, and transparent elections.

"We admire the Bolivian people for standing up for their constitution, their democracy, and for free, fair and transparent elections," Pompeo said in a statement.

At least 32 people lost their lives in post-election unrest, prompting Pompeo to call for restraint and respect for peaceful protesters' rights.

"Security services must respect the rights of peaceful protesters, and the Bolivian authorities must ensure accountability for any violations of the right of citizens," he said.
