Chris Msando's murder, which occurred in the run-up to the 2017 elections, remains unsolved. However, new evidence has emerged linking a suspect to the crime.
Former KDF officer Peter Mugure, who is accused of killing his wife and children, has now been linked to the IEBC official's gruesome murder. Reports indicate that Mugure confessed to one of his inmates in remand, claiming he was part of the killer gang.
Msando's mother had wished for the peace of mind of his murderers to be taken away, a wish that now seems to have been fulfilled. Mugure's colleagues at the Laikipia Air Base believe he suffered depression arising from his family issues and a failed attempt to fly a plane.
One of the officers recalled Mugure's peculiar behavior, including standing in the rain for hours, which disturbed his fellow soldiers. Mugure was 'grounded' after crashing an airplane as a trainee pilot, a incident that could be evidence of his personal and mental problems.
