Atletico Madrid's forward Diego Costa is facing a three-month layoff after undergoing surgery on a cervical disc herniation on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
The surgery was performed in Madrid, and according to the club's medical services, the operation went as planned.
Costa had been experiencing discomfort in his neck during training last week, prompting the club to decide that surgery was necessary.
As a result, Costa is expected to miss Atletico's La Liga game against Barcelona on December 1, as well as their last two Champions League group games against Juventus and Lokomotiv Moscow.
However, he could return in time for the round of 16 matches at the end of February.
