On November 21, 2019, gospel artiste Wahu Kagwi was released on a Sh15,000 bond after being arrested and charged in court for allegedly committing a traffic offence.
According to reports, Wahu was stopped by traffic police in Kilimani area towards Riverside and was accused of overlapping and overtaking dangerously.
However, Wahu denied the allegations and claimed that she was not given a chance to explain herself to the traffic cop.
She stated that the cop asked her if she wanted to give a cash bail, but she refused, saying she didn't have any cash on her and wasn't comfortable with the cash bail system.
Wahu also claimed that she has been stopped several times at the same spot, where many motorists are extorted, and that she has been told to pay bribes instead of going to court.
She said, 'If we're going to change this country, I as a citizen of Kenya have a role to play and follow the law. You want me to go to court? fine, I'll show up in court.'
Wahu's case will be heard on December 9.
