On November 21, 2019, gospel musician Rosemary Wahu Kagwi was charged in Milimani Law Courts for dangerous overtaking, driving without a valid driver's license, and causing obstruction.

Wahu was released on a cash bail of Ksh15,000 after denying the three counts. She is set to appear in court for a hearing on December 9th.

According to Wahu, the case was escalated after she refused to give a bribe to a policeman who asked her 'ukona pesa ngapi?' (how much do you have?).

Wahu claimed that the traffic cop pulled her over and accused her of dangerous overtaking and driving without a license, but she denied the other charges. She stated that she was not comfortable with the cash bail system and wished it was a cashless system.

Wahu said she was innocent of the charges except for driving without a driving license. She expressed her readiness to follow the right procedure and make Kenya a better place by helping to stop corruption.
