On Wednesday, two robbery with violence suspects staged a daring escape from Ruiru Police Station by pretending to have a running stomach.

Wycliffe Kori Achola and Denis Atitwa Atenya were scheduled to appear at Ruiru Law Courts on Thursday for a hearing in their respective cases.

However, they managed to escape from the police cells after a scuffle with two police officers.

According to police reports, Achola had claimed to have a running stomach and asked to be escorted to the toilets within the cells.

But before the policeman on guard could close the door, the two pushed it open and allegedly overpowered the officer, strangling his female colleague Julia Nduta who was at the report desk.

The two officers raised an alarm, and their colleagues joined them in a search for the suspects, but to no avail.

On Thursday, Kiambu police commander Ali Nuno stated that no information had been received regarding the whereabouts of the two escapees.
