On November 21, 2019, a daring escape occurred at Ruiru Police Station, where two robbery suspects managed to break free from custody.
The suspects, identified as Dennis Atiwa Atenya and Wycliff Kori Achola, had been arrested in September 2019 by the Githurai Kimbo police command and were facing charges of robbery with violence.
According to police, the suspects were being escorted to the toilet by two officers when Achola turned violent and overpowered one of the officers, allowing Atenya to join in and overpower the other officer.
The two suspects then jumped over the wall and escaped, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt for their recapture.
Various authorities have been put on alert to hunt down the suspects, who had been due to be arraigned in court.
