The Magical Kenya Ladies Open has set a new benchmark in golf with a prize purse of over Kshs 33 million, announced on November 21, 2019.

Organized by U.COM, the event will offer a total prize fund of Euros 300,000, with the overall winner taking home Euros 45,000, equivalent to Kshs 5 million.

According to event promoter Dirk Glittenberg, the prize purse is globally competitive, making the Magical Kenya Ladies Open one of the richest events on the Ladies European Tour.

"This is the first time a Ladies European Tour event is being held in Kenya, and we are delighted to have received the necessary support to host this event and offer a globally acceptable and attractive prize purse," Glittenberg said.

The event, which takes place from November 5 to 8, 2019, at the PGA Baobab Course in Vipingo Ridge, is sponsored by Magical Kenya and Safaricom's M-Pesa.

Other notable events on the Ladies European Tour include the Investec South Africa Women's Open, the Lalla Meryem Cup, the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open, and the Jordan Mixed Open, each with its own prize fund.
