November 21, 2019, marked a somber day for the Kenyan media fraternity as news of the death of Eric Oloo, a Siaya-based Star journalist, spread.
Oloo was found dead inside the house of Inspector Sabina Kerubo, Deputy OCS at Ugunja police station in Siaya county.
A neighbour reported that Oloo had suspected Inspector Kerubo was in a relationship with another man and had confronted him two weeks prior, only to be beaten up.
On the night of his return, he found Inspector Kerubo with yet another man at their house, leading to a confrontation that resulted in his beating.
According to reports, Oloo's body had three deep cuts on the head, and three people have been arrested in connection to his murder.
As the nation mourns the loss of Eric Oloo, condolences poured in from fellow Kenyans, including Edwin Mwai, Awich Achia, Pingpong, Ominde Oko, Keziah Ogada, Tinnah Te Christin, Kevo Wa Siaya, Riicky Ky, and Aphlinemarie Mariajoseph.
