On the eve of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) national playoffs, KCB ladies volleyball team is intensifying its preparations. The team has been in residential camp for the last week at Sports View Hotel in Kasarani, with daily trainings at Nyayo Gymnasium and KCB Sports Club.

The team's head coach, Japheth Munala, is relying heavily on experienced attackers like Noel Murambi, Violet Makuto, Leonida Kasaya, and Rwanda's top striker Ernestine Akimanizanye. The team has also been boosted by the inclusion of youngster Belinda Barasa from KCB Academy in the starting squad.

The tournament will kick off this Friday with KCB facing off against the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) at noon, followed by a clash with Kenya Prisons at 4 pm on Saturday. The team will face Kenya Pipeline in their final match on Sunday afternoon.

The top two teams in the men and ladies categories will represent the country in next year's African Club Championship, slated to take place at the Al Ahly stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Coach Munala has won four previous national titles and is aiming to grab his major victory with KCB, having led the squad to a second-position finish last year. KCB is currently leading the KVF log with 18 points ahead of Kenya Prisons.

KCB Bank Kenya is the title sponsor of the tournament, having injected Kshs 1 million towards the staging of the three-day competition.
