Onyango Otieno, a mental health advocate, has bravely shared his harrowing experience of being raped by their house help at the age of 20.

It has taken him 10 years to open up about the traumatic event, which has left him with deep emotional scars.

He took to social media to share his story, stating, 'I was raped by our house manager when I was 20. It was my first sexual experience. That shit messed me up on top of the childhood trauma I already had. It’s taken me 10yrs to talk about it. Couldn’t even write it in my journals. Boys, we were never taught to speak about our pain.'

His post sparked a wave of reactions from others who have experienced similar traumas, including Marutit Kemboi, who shared his own story of being raped by their house help at the age of 6.

Others, such as Tetey, shared their experiences of being raped by house helps and the long-term effects it has had on their lives.

Reactions to Otieno's post included messages of support and solidarity from individuals such as Julie Gichuru, who wrote, 'I am so sorry for your pain. Our sons need to be heard, they need protection. Wishing you healing @Rixpoet?'
