November 21, 2019, marked a day of confusion and distress for Cedric Shivonje, a 25-year-old English and Science teacher from Kawangware. Photos of him were published by Sky News, identifying him as Paul Manyasi, a stowaway who fell from a KQ Boeing aircraft before it landed in London on June 30.

However, Shivonje is alive and has spoken out about the ordeal. In an interview with Nation, he stated, 'I am alive as you can see.'

Shivonje's photos were taken from his Facebook account, which was last updated on July 14. He was accompanied by his father Isaac Beti, uncle Timothy Burundi, and lawyer James Mbugua during the interview.

Shivonje was arrested on August 7 and remanded at a city prison on August 13 for an alleged sexual abuse case. He failed to raise bail of Sh200,000.

Speaking to Nation, Shivonje further stated, 'They have damaged my son's reputation and he needs to be cleansed after being labeled dead.'

Shivonje's case highlights the importance of verifying information before publishing it, especially in cases where reputations are at stake.
