On November 21, 2019, a journalist was reported missing after his vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Kabarnet, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The incident occurred as the vehicle was approaching the Kerio River bridge, veering off the road and rolling several times before landing inside the gorge adjacent to the Cheploch river, which borders Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after midnight and spent the better part of the wee hours trying to retrieve the vehicle, but their efforts were hampered by darkness.
Although the number of occupants of the car is yet to be established, the police have since resumed their operations to retrieve the vehicle and locate the missing journalist.
