Former Alego MP's Son Deported from US, Now Living in Poverty and Battling Cancer

Published on November 21, 2019

Peter Aringo Junior, the son of former Alego Member of Parliament Peter Oloo Aringo, has been living a life far removed from the luxury often associated with politicians' children in Kenya.

According to a video by KTN News, Aringo Junior attended the prestigious Consolota Primary School in Nairobi before proceeding to St. Mary’s Yala, where he began drinking alcohol under the influence of his friends.

After completing his high school studies, he went to the US to pursue a course in business administration at Iona College. However, his time in the US took a downward turn as he continued with his drinking habits, which eventually led him to become a drug dealer.

As reported by KTN News, Aringo Junior's drug peddling activities were being monitored by the New York Federal government authorities. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with the option of deportation.

He chose to be deported and returned home empty-handed, without his travel documents, his wife, and three children. When he came back, his appetite for cheap liquor increased, and he was unlucky to be diagnosed with throat cancer.

His wife, Catherine Boyane, who married him in May 2019, revealed that they initially thought the swelling on his neck was a sore throat, but it turned out to be cancer.

The couple is currently living in a shanty house in a Nakuru estate, sandwiched between high-end houses.
