On November 21, 2019, it was reported that Deputy President William Ruto had planned a meeting with all Mt Kenya MPs allied to the Tanga Tanga wing of Jubilee.

The meeting aimed to strategize ahead of the 2022 elections and find ways to contain President Uhuru's Sagana meeting, which had left Tanga Tanga MPs feeling sidelined.

According to sources, the Tanga Tanga MPs felt humiliated and disrespected after being excluded from addressing the gathering at Sagana.

One of the MPs who will attend the meeting stated, 'Agenda of the meeting is to strategize and make sure the individuals President Uhuru have given the mandate to champion for Central Kenya interests are contained.'

By convening the meeting, DP Ruto was seen as openly sabotaging Uhuru's agenda, a move that was unlikely to benefit him.
