On November 4, 2019, a brazen robbery took place in Nairobi, leaving one boda boda rider shaken. Kelvin Morara, a 30-year-old boda boda rider, was charged with violently robbing his colleague, Wycliffe Okuku Wandera, of his motorbike.
According to the charges, Morara and an accomplice posed as customers and approached Wandera, who was headed to Mukuru kwa Reuben from Kibra. After refuelling at the Kobil petrol station along Enterprise Road, the two turned against Wandera, wrestled him to the ground, and one of them drew a knife and threatened him.
They took off with Wandera's motorcycle, leaving him to give chase on foot. However, they managed to escape. Wandera reported the matter to the police, and two weeks later, Morara was spotted riding the bike in South B and was arrested.
During the court proceedings, Morara denied the charges, claiming that he bought the motorbike from Wandera. He was freed on a bond of Sh 500,000, and the case will be heard from March 19, 2020.
