On November 21, 2019, a shocking case of defilement came to light in Nairobi, where a 17-year-old schoolgirl was found to be six months pregnant.
According to reports, the schoolgirl had been taken to hospital on October 19 for a pregnancy test after a matron noticed changes in her.
The test turned positive, revealing that the girl was indeed six months pregnant.
Her parents were called to collect her from the school, and the matter was reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Buruburu.
Ismael Mutembei Gatu, a man accused of defiling the schoolgirl, was arrested after investigations and charged with defilement and indecent act.
He denied all the charges and was freed on a Sh 300, 000 bond.
A children's court will set hearing dates for the case, which will be mentioned on December 4.
