Identical twins Mark and Maxwell Gachau from Nanyuki have made headlines after scoring the same mark in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination.
Mark and Maxwell, both 13 years old, scored 400 marks each out of a possible 500, making them among the top performers at St Christopher School in Nanyuki.
According to the school headteacher, Agnes Nkiria, the twins did not exactly tie in the exams, with Mark scoring index 008 and Maxwell scoring index 022.
Mark attributed his success to his hard work and dedication, saying, "I knew that we would perform well but I never expected we would score the same marks because we do not perform the same in school."
Maxwell, on the other hand, credited his parents and the competition from his brother for his motivation, saying, "When we were in lower primary, I was always ahead of him but when we got to Class Four, he started competing with me, and it has been that way ever since."
Both twins have big dreams for their future, with Mark hoping to join Alliance Boys High and become a doctor, and Maxwell aiming to join Mang'u High School and pursue a career in aviation as a pilot.
