On November 21, 2019, Precious Mensah, a plus-sized Ghanaian woman, was denied boarding on a Dubai-bound Emirates Airlines flight due to her size.
Mensah, a winner of Ghana's Atinka TV reality show 'Di Asa,' had been awarded a trip to Dubai as part of the prize package, along with two runner-ups, Maafia and Gaza.
According to reports, Mensah was stopped from boarding the plane because she reportedly could not fit on a single seat in the Emirates Airlines' plane.
As part of the prize package, Mensah had also received a cash prize of GHC2,500 and $500 from the ministers of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison, and Tourism, Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, for shopping when she travels to Dubai.
Her trip to Dubai was part of the prize package for winners of the competition held on September 28, 2019.
