Monica Kimani's murder case has taken a significant turn with the analysis of DNA samples from the crime scene. According to a report by the Government analyst, DNA profile generated from a pillow and a rear seat matched the DNA profile generated from the buccal swab of Joseph Kuria Irungu, also known as 'Jowie', a main suspect in the case.

Published on November 21, 2019, the report was presented in court on Wednesday, linking Jowie to the scene of crime, the late Monica Kimani's apartment. The DNA samples were taken from the scene of crime, including buccal swabs of the two main suspects – Jowie and journalist Jacque Maribe – as well as former suspects Brian Kassaine and Jennings Orlando Odhiambo.

Government analyst Dr. Joseph Kagunda Kimani submitted a report indicating the findings of the 73 samples taken from the scene of crime. The report concluded that two other DNA profiles of unidentified persons were also generated from other items, one being that of a woman and another of a man.

Dr. Kagunda will be cross-examined at the Milimani Law Courts on Thursday. The trial, which began on June 24 this year, has seen three witnesses take to the stand, including a government pathologist, a police constable, and a friend of the late Monica Kimani who narrated to the court the deceased's last moments with Jowie.

Monica Kimani was murdered on September 20, 2018, and her body discovered at her house in Kilimani area, Nairobi.
