On November 20, 2019, Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu filed a petition seeking to restrain his deputy James Nyoro from discharging the functions of the office of the Governor.

Waititu, through his lawyer Tom Ojienda, is also seeking to be allowed access back to his office, which he was denied by Justice Ngenye Macharia on August 8, 2019.

According to the petition, it is unlawful for Deputy Governor Nyoro to re-assign duties to members of the County Executive Committee, and his functions should only be limited to overseeing the functions and sittings of the County Executive Committee in the absence of the governor.

Waititu argues that investigations in the matter have been completed, and there is no likelihood of him interfering with evidence, investigations, or witnesses.

The Kiambu County boss's petition comes after a supremacy battle between him and his deputy Nyoro since he was denied access to his office.
