On November 20, 2019, a remarkable coincidence occurred in Nanyuki, where identical twins Mark Gachau and Maxwell Gachau scored the same marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination.

Mark and Maxwell, both 13 years old, were among the 12 out of 76 candidates at St Christopher School in Nanyuki who scored 400 marks and above.

According to the school headteacher, Agnes Nkiria, the twins had previously scored different marks in exams. However, this time around, they tied with 400 marks each.

Mark attributed his success to his brother and parents, who supported him throughout the time he was sick. He added that they helped him keep up with school.

Maxwell, on the other hand, credited his motivation to his parents and the competition from his brother. He hopes to join Mang'u High School and pursue a career in aviation as a pilot.

Mark, who hopes to become a doctor, believes that all subjects are important and necessary for him to achieve his dream. He plans to join Alliance Boys High, which he considers his dream school.
