On October 27, 2019, a Confederation Cup first leg playoff match between Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia and Congolese side DC Motemba Pembe turned chaotic at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the real story was the crowd trouble that marred the event. The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has now taken action, fining Gor Mahia Sh750,000 for their role in the disturbances.

The Caf Disciplinary Board made the ruling in Cairo on Monday, based on the referee's report. The decision can be contested before the Caf Appeal Board within three days of notification, but if the deadline passes without an appeal, the ruling becomes final.

Gor Mahia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lordvick Aduda confirmed the fine, stating that the club would meet to discuss their next steps. 'We have just been informed of the fine today and we will seat down with our legal team as soon as possible to discuss what to do next. There are cost implications if we decide to appeal and therefore these are some of the issues we need to address,' he told Nation Sport.
