Published on November 20, 2019, the EACC annual corruption report has shed light on the most corrupt counties in Kenya. According to the report, Bomet, Kericho, and Elgeyo Marakwet top the list, with residents paying the highest bribes to access government services.
The survey, conducted from November 16 to December 19, 2018, also revealed that the Registrar of Persons received the highest number of bribes, accounting for 19.9% of all bribes given by Kenyans.
Notably, the average bribe recorded in 2018 was Sh 3,833, a significant decrease from the Sh 5,000 recorded in the previous year.
Interestingly, 2016 saw the highest average amount of corruption reported, with Sh 5,648, while 2007 recorded the lowest average amount of Sh 2,711.
