What is Electric Current in Physics?

Electric current is a flow of electric charge through a conductor, such as a wire. It is a measure of the amount of charge that flows through a given area in a certain time period.

According to Ohm's Law, the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the voltage applied across it and inversely proportional to the resistance of the conductor. This means that if the voltage is increased, the current will also increase, but if the resistance is increased, the current will decrease.

There are two types of electric current: direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC). DC flows in one direction only, while AC flows in both directions, oscillating at a specific frequency.

Electric current is an essential concept in physics, and it has numerous applications in our daily lives, including the operation of electrical devices, transmission of power, and communication systems.

On November 20, 2019, a study was published highlighting the importance of understanding electric current in physics.

Types of Electric Current

There are two main types of electric current: direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC). DC flows in one direction only, while AC flows in both directions, oscillating at a specific frequency.

DC is commonly used in electronic devices, such as batteries and solar panels, while AC is used in power transmission and distribution systems.

Applications of Electric Current

Electric current has numerous applications in our daily lives, including the operation of electrical devices, transmission of power, and communication systems.

It is used in various industries, such as manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare, to name a few.
