Published on November 20, 2019, a report on salaries in Kenya revealed that only 80,000 Kenyans earn a salary of Sh. 100,000 and above per month.
Of these, 63.4 percent are men, earning more than Sh100,000, compared to 29,233 women in this pay scale, a gap of 21,516.
The report also showed that three-quarters of Kenyans earn a monthly salary of below Sh50,000, with the largest absolute number of employees, 781,964, earning between Sh30,000 and Sh49,999.
According to the report, the private sector had 68,526 professionals or 85 percent of all the top earners, with the highest-paying jobs concentrated in this sector.
Additionally, data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) revealed that top earners increased by 3,178 members, with a 4.1 percent growth outpacing all the other income groups.
