Ugandan international Shafiq Batambuze, a key defender for Gor Mahia, has made significant progress in his recovery after undergoing knee surgery on November 20, 2019.
The surgery, which cost approximately Sh400,000, was funded by fans and well-wishers through a Paybill Number.
According to Gor Mahia's assistant secretary, Ronald Ngala, Batambuze has a great chance of playing in the second half of the Kenyan Premier League season.
Ngala stated, "Batambuze has undergone a successful operation, and has a great chance of playing in the second half of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season. It will take him about two to four months to heal properly depending on his body’s response to medication. We are happy and wish him a quick recovery."
