On November 20, 2019, the US government imposed a travel ban on former Busia Senator Amos Wako, his wife, and son, citing their alleged involvement in corruption.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has denied any knowledge of a corruption case against Amos Wako, despite the US travel ban.
EACC Chairman Eliud Wabukhala stated that the commission works closely with foreign envoys to combat corruption cases, but did not elaborate on the Wako case.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, however, stated that the US government has sufficient evidence to prove Wako's involvement in corruption.
"We work closely with foreign envoys to combat corruption cases, and we are confident that we will uncover the truth and find a solution," Wabukhala said.
