On Tuesday, the body of 22-year-old Binta Abdi Abdullahi was found hanging from a tree in Meri location, Habaswein Sub-county, Wajir County. The incident was reported to the police by the area chief, Abdullahi Ismail Hassan.

According to Habaswein OCPD Benjamin Kimwele, the victim's body had been moved from the scene to her house by her husband, Adan Ahmed Mumin. The police visited the scene and found that the body had no physical injuries, apart from a deep cut around her neck caused by a black head scarf.

A postmortem examination at Dagahaley MSF hospital revealed that the victim died of strangulation. The police later arrested the victim's husband, who was initially suspected of attempting to cover up the incident.

Mr. Kimwele stated that witness accounts pointed to the husband as the main suspect in the victim's death. The suspect is currently in police custody and was due to be arraigned on Wednesday.
